Resident Geologist - Dam and Hydropower Project

About the role

Surbana Jurong is recruiting a Resident Geologist for the SMEC India Bhutan Dorjilung HE Project site. The role covers geological mapping, monitoring of geological conditions during dam and tunnel works, and coordinating with civil, geotechnical and construction teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping and assess geological conditions at dam, tunnel and associated infrastructure locations.
• Supervise geological investigations, borehole logging, rock mass classification and geotechnical assessments.
• Monitor geological conditions during tunnel excavation, including rock formations, joints, faults, fractures, groundwater seepage and potential instability.
• Assess dam foundation geology, including rock quality, discontinuities, seepage and foundation treatment requirements.
• Provide geological inputs for tunnel support systems, excavation methods, grouting and slope stabilization.
• Identify geological hazards and recommend mitigation measures with design and construction teams.
• Review investigation data, construction drawings and technical reports; maintain geological records and site inspection reports.
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical and construction teams and ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Applied Geology or Engineering Geology; a postgraduate qualification in Engineering Geology or a related field is an added advantage.
• Relevant experience in geological investigations and construction supervision for dam and hydropower projects.
• Experience in tunnel geology, underground excavation, rock mass classification and dam foundation assessment.
• Strong technical reporting and coordination skills.
